WDC BACK PAKISTAN FLOOD APPEAL

Print | Email

Councillors in West Dunbartonshire have unanimously agreed to back a motion in support of the Pakistan flood victims.

The motion was submitted by Dumbarton Councillor David McBride.

It called on council employees and local residents to fundraise to help alleviate the suffering of the victims of the flood.

Councillor McBride hopes the Council will encourage fundraising efforts by its staff that could potentially reach the levels of the Asian Tsunami appeal in 2005.

It raised over £22,000, a sum which the council then matched to send a cheque for almost £45,000 to the Disasters Emergency Committee.
